| Hello! All is well at Refuge, though we are acutely aware that, somehow, the level of uncertainty and tension in the world around us continues to ratchet up. In this context, we have found renewed energy for helping practitioners expand and strengthen their capacity for helping our fellow humans with experiential therapies. We are thus pleased to share our fall professional development programming line-up. As you can see, there is something for everyone: from introductions to working with psychedelics to refining your use of music in psychedelic therapy. All are welcome and we are looking forward to seeing you soon. |
| Introduction to Psychedelic Therapy Free Fall Info Session September 26th, 12-1:30 pm Join Dr. Joe Flanders and Andrew Rose, and get a brief introduction to working in the psychedelic landscape, our fall courses (outlined below), and get a chance to ask your questions live. We’ll cover some basics on the current regulatory landscape in Canada and the USA, discuss Refuge’s approach to psychedelic therapy and integration, and how you can get involved. |
| Entering the Psychedelic Field A 6-week course on supporting clients in a shifting psychedelic landscape Entering the Psychedelic Field is a 6-week online course for therapists, guides, and mental health professionals interested in working with clients who engage with psychedelics. You’ll explore core frameworks for preparation and integration, along with practical tools for client safety, readiness, and risk. The course also offers guidance on scope of practice, personal boundaries, and the evolving psychedelic landscape in Canada and beyond. It’s an ideal foundation for those beginning this work or planning to pursue further training in psychedelic-assisted therapy. Educators: Dr. Joe Flanders and Andrew Rose Dates and Times: 6 live online sessions (90 minutes each) Fridays from 12:00–1:30 PM ET — October 17 to November 7 Replays available for all sessions Cost: $450 for the full course | $895 for the bundle including Music Course* |
| Music for Psychedelic TherapyA practical 6-week course for building playlists for therapists, guides, and enthusiasts Music and sound play an arguably critical but still poorly understood role in the efficacy of psychedelic-assisted therapy. Applied almost universally in clinical trials, current legal treatment options, underground work, and in traditional and indigenous ceremonial settings, music may be the most significant and yet variable aspect of the ‘set and setting’ of a psychedelic experience. Learners will explore the theoretical and scientific dimensions of this rich terrain and acquire practical skills for crafting custom playlists to support psychedelic therapy and journeying. At the end of the course participants will also leave with an exclusive twelve hour playlist created by the group. Educators: Alain Menier and Andrew Rose Guest lecture by David Rosen (Johns Hopkins) Dates and Times: 6 live online sessions (90 minutes each) Tuesdays from 6:30–8:00 PM ET — October 7 to November 11 Replays available for all sessions Cost: $625 for the full course | $895 for the bundle including Entering the Psychedelic Field* |
